Love and Pizza

I just wanted to share with all that E'lan and I attended our Stake Valentine's Dance, and had a FANTASTIC time. We haven't enjoyed one another that way in a very very long time. We ignored most everyone around us and got jiggy with it. People are still talking at church...hahaha. Thanks to Jack and Irma we got to see a movie too. Who can handle 2 adult nights in a row - whoa!

I cooked my very first homeade pizza/foccacia. I served a mission in Italy over 9 years ago, and I learned how to do this a hundred times, but feared doing it alone. Finally I ventured, and VOILA! Yummy to my tummy. We topped it with homeade roasted bell peppers (i pepperoni), eggplant, and fresh tomatoes, (very Italian). I might regret this newfound talent...anyone for my secret and easy recipe?!

My new thing

Most of you may not know that my brother Ben has recruited me to Spina Bifda Association of Arizona. Ben's life was changed 3.5 years ago when his son was born with this birth defect. Since then, he and his wife have been extremely proactive in the prevention of Spina Bifida through Folic Acid intake and assisting those currently with Spina Bifida. We are working on getting grants and increasing fundraising in order to reach more people and prevent more women at risk.

I guess I am writing this for 2 reasons. First to help get the word out about SBAAZ and secondly to mention what is going on with me personally. I love using my brain and stretching myself, and it seems I am doing both. I hope and pray that in some way shape or form I can help this cause and make some sort of difference no matter how big or small. We just put together our first grant in 3 days, and my brain is FRIED! I guess that is all for now, I love my life and the people around me!

January Fun

Some of our January musings: Joshua looking for the "Cat in the Hat" on a rainy day. We walked under bridges and tunnels, everywhere trying to find him. He would walk around yelling, "Cat in the Hat, where are you, I know you're here, its raining. Playing soccer in the backyard with his grandpop, and going to the zoo.

Tagged - 6 Quirks about me - Better late than never Kendra!

1. I will ask you a question, and if I don't get the answer I want, I will ask you 100 more till I hear what I want to hear. Plenty of people want to tape my mouth!

2. I snort when I laugh hard as most of you know

3. I cannot wash dishes in cold water- it grosses me out and I have to leave water running on hot.

4. Everytime I put on my houseshoes, I hesitate and take a deep breath, haha - I am sure that some sort of deadly scorpion or spider (or anything else small and gross)has nested there the night before.

5. I hate washing my own jeans...in fact, I will surface clean several times just to avoid the washing machine! On the topic of dress, I cannot dress my daughter in anything but pink and red unless a dress without talking myself into it for a very long time. I swore my daughter would never wear pink...reality hit:)

6. This one's a Scanlan gene for sure - I shake/move one leg back and forth at night to lull myself to sleep! E'lan tells me that he did not put a quarter in the bed. He thinks I have a shaking disorder.

Joshua's a sunbeam now!

We bought Joshua a new suit to go into primary. He was soooo excited, as you can see in the picture. He wouldn't go without his own copy of the Book Of Mormon. All through sacrament he kept asking is it time to go to primary yet? He sat in the front row and loved every minute of it. He came home singing the song, " I lived in Heaven". E'lan is relishing in the moment learning all the things about primary he never had.
